How to dismantle a sofa....

Our NEW sofa was due to arrive on Friday ....which left us with a small dilemma, what to do with the OLD one?  Even the furniture project people wouldn't have wanted it; 12 years old and pee'd on by kids and cats over the years, ground in food and full of rubbish...SO...we decided to take it to bits!

It took a total of 5 hours of very hard work...in 28 degrees !  But we managed it!

Flatford Mill - 24th July 2012

As the weather had stopped doing the "rain thing" briefly we decided to take full advantage and drive to Flatford Mill to go boating and have a picnic.

As we readied ourselves, gathering egg sarnies and a flask of tea, Joanne rang to find out what we were up to.  She had a rare day off so she came too!

We had enormous fun rowing the boat up and down the river...its quite tricky , and we got stuck on a sand bank for a while and then stuck on an underwater tree?

Joanne stayed on the bank, dozing on the tarpaulin in the shade of one of the beautiful pollarded trees that are dotted along the bank...she was rudely awoken by a large heffer chewing on the tarp...wish we'd witnessed that!

Lovely relaxing afternoon in Christchurch Park

Just back from a lovely relaxing day spent in Christchurch Park with the lovely ladies.
All brought FAR too much food with us...very mumsy thing to do.
Girls all had a great time....lord knows where they went but they all disappeared for ages and kept popping back to the chair camp from time to time to refuel.

Was great just sitting watching people around us and having a good ol' chinwag...we did wonder where the huge party of buggies led by a man in High Vis jacket were from?? Perhaps some strange harem??

Now home ....collecting Hannahs friend for a sleep over later, while collecting David from his friends at 6.30pm...I have officially become a MUMs TAXI....

Off to the Park for Japes....

Meeting the ladies in Christchurch Park at lunchtime for a game of rounders and a picnic!!
Hope the weather holds out....
Now just need to make egg sarnies and pack the chairs!!

Not only have I managed to comment on Rob and Debs blog (www.robanddebbieinitaly.blogspot.com) with the aide of Andy and Dee's fab computer knowledge...apparently all you need is a google account...durr...!! but Hannah and me made LOTS of cakes this afternoon...2 lemon drizzle cakes and a whole heap of fairy cakes too!!

I also cleared a huge amount of old shoes from beside the bed and in the hallway...

Hannah and me went off to the tip with the shoes and a roll of grotty carpet from the hall and I had the oddest conversation with the Aussie chap at the tip.
I spotted a lady putting a perfectly good shoe rack into one of the big containers...hmmm...see I was focussed on the shoe crisis at the time...and mentioned to the chap that it was a pity I hadnt seen it before she chucked it...to which he replied,
 "if you take one more step up there and take the article I may have to charge you with theft!!"
"What? Eh? Theft, oh ok...pity I didnt catch her before she chucked it in..."
"That would also have been theft and we would charge you both?"
"What? Eh!...Errr...really?"
"You would have to exchange items off these premises..."

Hmmm....not doing too badly making myself a blog.  Managed one posting ok...and have been fiddling around with it for the past hour...

Start of the Hols....

Broke up on Friday ....hooray....took the whole weekend to recoup and recover strength and vitality!!
Now starting to plan for and look forward to our holiday in Florida!!
Can't wait to go!
Never been to the States, or even been on a plane for more than 3 hours....

Today the kids want to bake a cake and make plans for the holidays....there was talk last night of hiring bikes and cycling round Alton Water?? That'll be great!

Been following Rob and Debs blogspot as they travel through France to Italy on their enormous motorbike...I have funny image in my head of a huge bike traversing France with a line of washing trailing along behind them...hee hee
